Journal Jackets are unique composition notebook covers handmade by Krystyn Hartman. Based in Western Colorado and Eastern Nevada, she is a retired magazine publisher who still writes in notebooks and is a hobby stitcher. "I love mixing colors and prints for notebooks — notebooks that, I hope, are worthy of the author's words inside."

She uses a variety of printed textiles for the Journal Jackets, but most are 100% cotton, machine washable fabrics.

"I like to experiment," Krystyn says. "You'll see some with vinyl pockets, satin linings and pops of sparkle. I like a little sparkle."

She began making the Journal Jackets in November 2022. "I was hooked immediately and over the following six months I'd made almost a hundred of them. I simply love making and writing in them.

"There is something deliciously inviting about a lovely book, blank lined pages inside, waiting for ink and writer to bring their stories to life."
